What personal information we collect through this website, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Northern Quarter is run by Northern Quarter Events CIC (company number 16479547), which decides how your information is used. You can reach us by email, or by post at Northern Quarter, 28-30 Wood Street, Huddersfield HD1 1DU.

What we collect

  • When you buy a ticket: your name, your email address and what you bought. Card payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see your full card details.
  • When you fill in one of our forms (promoters, community events, art, food vendors, volunteers or anything else): what you tell us, such as your name, email address, phone number and the details of your idea.
  • When you volunteer: the skills and availability you give us, the dates you sign up for and the hours you help.
  • If you sign up for news, at the bottom of any page or when you buy tickets: your email address (and your name, if you gave it with a ticket order), so we can send you news of what's on.
  • If you tick the Friend of NQ box: your name, your email address and which form you ticked it on, so we can tell you when the scheme starts.
  • If you pay by card on the door: SumUp takes the payment and tells us the amount and the time, not who you are.
  • When you look at pages on this site: which page, when, whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, and for the first page of a visit, the website or app you came from (just its name, such as Google or Instagram). We count pages without cookies, and the count doesn't keep your IP address or anything else that identifies you.
  • If you make an account: your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, when you last logged in, and your password, which we keep scrambled so that nobody can read it, us included.

Why we use it

  • To sell you tickets, send them to you and let you in. This is to carry out our agreement with you.
  • To reply to you, arrange what you've asked about and run volunteering. This is in our legitimate interests, and yours.
  • To report on our work to the funders who support the venue. This is in our legitimate interests.
  • To see which pages and events people look at, and how they find us, so we can plan and promote events. This is in our legitimate interests.
  • To keep the records the law requires, such as accounts.
  • To tell you about the Friend of NQ scheme, or about events, when you've asked us to. This is with your consent, and you can change your mind at any time by emailing us.

Who else sees it

  • The organiser of an event you buy a ticket for, so they can run their event and give refunds.
  • The companies that run parts of the website for us: Stripe for payments, SumUp for card payments on the door, Railway for hosting, Cloudflare, which the site's traffic passes through, Resend for email, and Google, where the venue keeps its diary of events in a calendar. They only use it to provide those services.

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it for the reasons above. Records of sales are kept for as long as the law requires for accounts.

If you close your account (from Your details, once you're logged in), your login, your name and phone number go straight away, and you come off our newsletter and the Friend of NQ list. Records of tickets you've bought and anything you've applied for stay, for the reasons above.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email us and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

We'll update this notice if what we do changes. Last updated October 2026.
